GIRL ON 9 ACRES
Who Am I?
Hi! I’m Beki’s mom, Corleen. I’ve been gathering treasures for Beki’s poetic memoirs, hidden deep in my own memory of her life. I am in awe of her natural writing skills. They have ignited me to dig out some of my own hidden stuff created and written down during her growing up years - ancient poetry, yellowed musical composition pages, dusty photographs. She has eagerly gathered and used them in the formation of some of her own memoirs. What an honor to collaborate with my very talented daughter.

About me?

My life centers around three things: love for my God, love for my family and love for those God puts in my pathway. Let’s make that four: Putting life to Music. Music has kept me singing and has brightened the joys and challenges of life. Life has been an adventure with Paul, my husband of over 53 years. We’ve hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon (and back up) twice, summited Mt Hood, dived the Great Barrier Reef, backpacked the Goat Rock Wilderness, explored Machu Picchu and birded on the Danube Delta. These and more adventures came with several short term mission trips that have allowed me to experience the cultures of over 30 countries. Retirement is trying to teach me to slow down. I am a slow learner!
What's Next?
My diagnosis of Parkinson’s in January of 2023 has brought significant change. I am slowing down. My love and admiration for my family and desire for a close connection with them consumes me. I sense a new depth of tenderness and protective concern from them, too. My husband dotes on me (and I love it!). Fortunately, I am doing quite well right now. I want to squeeze as much as possible out of every day and do as much as I can as long as I can. But I am soooo tired. I think I'll take a nap.
